Tebow would say himself that football doesn't matter.  It's not about football, and it's not about him.  That's what people like Bill Maher don't get.

Everything he does, he does to glorify his Creator.  God has granted him the opportunity to play football and earn a lot of money that way.  So he praises God for the opportunity and uses the money to help the sick, the poor, and the disadvantaged.  He takes the talents God has given him and uses them to the best of his ability.  If the day comes that his talents are not good enough for success in the NFL, he'll use them in a different way.

So people who don't understand will be gleeful when he stumbles, on the field or off.  But the truth will stay the truth.  We are all beloved children of God.  Our lives are gifts.  We can choose to use them for good or evil.  Since we are weak (concupiscence), we will often choose a the lesser, the easier path.  But by the grace of God, we can choose the higher, even in the face of adversity.
