I'm the most recent PP-- DH and I are both from Buffalo-- and he wants to add that people in Buffalo are so nice because they're trying to stave off a heart attack. :)
How do you and DH stand the stuck up people in DC? That was the biggest culture shock for me.
Yeah, ugh. Doesn't seem to bother DH as much as it does me, but I just don't know WHERE we are going to send our DS to school. He's only 2.5 now, but I have these images of him coming home demanding an iPhone or a laptop in Kindergarten. I really miss the simplicity of WNY living. There are plenty of smart, educated, well-to-do people up there, but there's something about that city of good neighbors idea that makes people friendlier and less obviously self-interested. And to the person who said it has to do with being Irish, I'll totally get on board with that- I'm Irish. :) Foods we routinely buy at Wegman's- Chiavetta's, Spiedie sauce (my parents are originally from CNY, so I grew up on this), Weber's mustard, Sahlen's hot dogs, and LARGE jugs of Franks. But of course now I'm totally intrigued by this cheese!!! We're lucky enough to be about a 25 minute drive from the new Wegman's in Lanham, and the traffic that way is never that bad unless there's a football game!
