It's not about skill, it's about sightlines. When you back in to a parking space, the worst case is misjudging how much space you have and bumping a surrounding car. When you back out of a parking space, the worst case is not seeing a kid dart past and running them over.[/quote]

If this is something you (or anyone else) struggles, with, then I question how competent you are to drive in the first place. I've been driving for 26 years, and have never had any issue ever of remotely coming close to hitting a person while backing up. And I've only had a rear camera for about 5 years. Check your mirrors properly, look over your shoulders, and it's a non issue. It is literally never a problem if you are paying attention.

But yet... you're backing into a spot, and there could be people cutting through the parking lot... so you're still backing in/out one way or another. It makes zero logical sense.
