I don't have anything close to this with my MIL. However, when my first baby was born, she got into this habit of giving gifts to me that were really for my DH and I finally just said something. Like she'd make a big show of handing me a present at the end of a visit and making me open it in front of anyone who was there, and then it would be a onesie that said "Daddy's Little Princess!" or a "World's Best Dad" mug. It happened multiple times. And each time she'd hand the gift to me and make me open it. The last time I opened one of these, I looked the bag, saw the "Daddy" crap, and said loudly that I really don't like gifts with messages on them (which is true). She acted all upset and confused and I know people thought I was being rude in the moment, but I didn't care. She stopped.

But my DH totally got why it annoyed me and also thought her behavior was weird/hurtful. That part is key.[/quote]
