Yes my kids don’t write yet. My mother in law wrote it out. They drew silly pictures and she showed my 4 year old how to spell dad and a heart inside but the front of 3 crafts say Happy Mother’s Day Dad in her handwriting.

This is funny and also awful, but the thing that would annoy me the most is that your DH hung this stuff on the wall of his office without mentioning it to you. Did he not think you'd see it? The fact that he didn't tell you about it indicates he knows it's weird/borderline hurtful (borderline because hard to rule out if this is senility or malicious), but then... why hang it up?

I don't have anything close to this with my MIL. However, when my first baby was born, she got into this habit of giving gifts to me that were really for my DH and I finally just said something. Like she'd make a big show of handing me a present at the end of a visit and making me open it in front of anyone who was there, and then it would be a onesie that said "Daddy's Little Princess!" or a "World's Best Dad" mug. It happened multiple times. And each time she'd hand the gift to me and make me open it. The last time I opened one of these, I looked the bag, saw the "Daddy" crap, and said loudly that I really don't like gifts with messages on them (which is true). She acted all upset and confused and I know people thought I was being rude in the moment, but I didn't care. She stopped.

But my DH totally got why it annoyed me and also thought her behavior was weird/hurtful. That part is key.

I would ask your husband, so he’s aware of how she feels about you/ what you have to put up with. But I have to admit this is so petty it’s hilarious! I wouldn’t waste your time getting upset about her. That is nuts

I asked DH (It was for Mother's Day, she was out of state for Father's Day and didn't see him in the week or two leading up so I already knew that..) He said his mom said she didn't want him to feel left out. Ok, then. She's a nut job and I am taking 10 steps back and just will leave DH to make that relationship happen. I don't use her for sitting often, but if she asks I do.
