This thread makes me think of the way people who are thought to be possessed react to holy water: repulsed. They named their daughter "celebration of peace.". I think back to my miscarriages (whom I named), and the very name they chose for her makes me cry and come to a deeper understanding of my own loss, after all these years. Their daughter is at peace, but they still miss her, always will, and through her name, they say "The Lord has given, the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.". What a beautiful expression of faith. I wish I had been that strong--I hated God when I lost my babies. This thread also reminds me of all the commentary about Tim Tebow lately. It's fascinating. Such vitriol, such ugliness: they're trash! Probably hypocrites! Stupid! Attention hogs! Disgusting displays! Fake love! The divide between faith and cynicism grows. These are Christians, and they are witnessing to their faith, as fervent Christians have always done, just by living what they believe. And that drives people insane. Why? Because they take it personally. Why? Because they can't help comparing themselves to these people. I asked the same questions when my husband and I left the Ivy League for a grad program at a Catholic school. Why are these people so happy? Why are they so much in love? Why are they always peaceful, even under great stress? Why are they helping me? What's in it for them? What do they care? The nastiness here does not reflect poorly on the Duggars. It opens a window to the soul of the poster. Rest in peace, Jubilee Shalom.
