Not a lawyer, had a hard time understanding this, but think it means he got screwed? Just what he deserves in my opinion ... https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/circuit/sites/circuit/files/assets/documents/pdf/opinions/mi-2019-1600-cw-v-bloom.pdf
Not really. His motion to dismiss was denied. Pretty soon his attorney will be able to file a motion to dismiss based on the right to a speedy trial. They keep putting it off due to covid and that excuse won’t work for much longer. The crime he is charged with is a misdemeanor and at worst a fine of $500. He needs to clear it from his record so he can be employable.
He has engaged a very high-level criminal defense attorney, Peter Greenspun. I realize that people have really strong feelings about this incident/case - rightly so. But it seems Bloom has maintained his innocence so I'm sure FCPS doesn't have a choice to keep him on their payroll unless their independent investigation finds him at fault. And they probably aren't going to make that finding while there is a criminal case. If he's acquitted/cleared of the criminal charges then they are going to have to have a separate reason to dismiss him.
