I disagree that Michigan is soooooo much better than UVA. UVA is a top school. Why would you waste money on a school like Michigan when you have UVA? UVA has a stellar reputation. There is no choice here. Save your money.
Michigan is top ten (#6) UVA is top forty (#37) https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/engineering-doctorate
That search is for schools that offer doctorates. Putting engineering alone as a search term defaults to national rankings #24 and #26. Michigan is better by ranking and reputation but not by all that much.
Link? Rando ranking put out by UVA grads? Let’s look at USNWR mechanical engineering. Michigan #4 UVA not ranked Aerospace Michigan #4 UVA not ranked Neither are top 10 for CS. Michigan is indisputably the “better” engineering school. There are other factors to consider when deciding on a school, but that part isn’t really up for debate.
Michigan is top ten in Computer Engineering.
