No, I’m wayyyyyy past the age where gestures on Valentine’s Day matter in my romantic relationship: I feel deeply loved and valued every day. An evening with my beau and his beloved family (whose company I also enjoy) is fine with me. If it makes you feel better about my situation, we had amazing sex early this morning and will do so again tonight.
I would be fine with this, too. We can have a nice morning or day together, it does not need to be 24/7. OP is clearly older, already had a family, why does it matter who they gave dinner with? We are having dinner with our kids, one of whom is a young adult with a SO who will be joining us. They celebrated last night and are excited to get two great dinners in a row!
