As much chop and change as we've seen in youth soccer in recent years, I think there is value in being attached to a league/structure/pathway that is stable and provides some certainty about what the future looks like. I am guessing that it is exhausting for those players and parents who switch clubs every year in search of better teams/coaches.
Nobody is saying that one should switch every year. But talent confers the ability to do so and focuses the player on individual development, team competitiveness and coaching excellence. You also can have switching without changing leagues and you can have stability on the same team but instability with clubs switching leagues. I don't think leagues mean stability, and if stability means stable rosters, you are talking about country clubs, not competitive sports teams. And with respect to league stability, what on earth are you talking about? Weren't VDA, McLean, Loudoun and Arlington just part of USSDA? Weren't BRYC, McLean and Loudoun also in CCL for top boys teams not in DA? Ultimately, I think we agree - if you want stability, a guaranteed spot, and the ability to talk about your league more than your own talent on the boys side, I think it's pretty obvious ECNL is the right choice. Looks more like a treadmill than a path way but, with treadmills, you know what you're getting, we all agree.
