Stop criticizing your mom and just love her for the way she is, jeans and all. Geez. How did you like it when she criticized your clothing choices as a teen?
No one said I didn't love her for who she is. But she is not, and never was, style-conscious. It's just not her thing. I am far more vain and princess-like than she...and that's not saying much, since I don't ever do my hair and rarely wear makeup. I was a tomboy in HS so, uh, not clothing fights there - she was happy to buy me more men's T-shirts and baggy jeans. (Remember the grunge days...) I want her to feel good about how she looks, and recently I provided some *solicited* input on hair color and the result was that she looked 15 years younger and loved the change. I want her to feel like she deserves more flattering clothes, even if they cost more, because she is worth it. I can tell you flat out that she doesn't think she should be spending money on herself or the time involved trying on clothes (but she'll buy me 3 sweaters if I mention that I need 1). And honestly, if I worked hard to maintain my weight and wasn't wearing the most flattering clothes, I would want someone to guide me in the right direction!
