That's absurd.  You were not wrong; there's nothing wrong with little girls having shorter hair (shoulder-length isn't even that short), nor with going along with your daughter's perfectly reasonable preference for a haircut.  I would just ignore your mom until she comes around.  Don't apologize, don't try to justify or excuse yourself.  It's insane to give someone the silent treatment because they gave their kid a haircut you don't like.  [/quote]
