I’m guessing these are friends from college or sometime in their 20’s. My friends used to talk a lot about sex and one night stands when we were young and single. Of course, immediately after a one night stand you have no idea if you’re going to end up with that person so there’s no sense of privacy. You laugh and share stories with friends. I noticed that as we got into longer term relationships people stoped talking about sex. It was just weird to talk about that with friends if the guy was going to be hanging out at trivia night later — and especially as you got to know the boyfriends as friends. There wasn’t a hard age where it stopped, it was very gradual as relationships became more serious. Now that I’m married, I never talk about my sex life with friends beyond the most superficial things like “I’m really looking forward to a romantic weekend after Thanksgiving.” Or “It’s been awhile” Zero details.

However, if any of my college friends had a one night stand and then started dating the guy, I would have known that they had sex the first time they met.
