You all are going to have to make up your mind here.  The OP wants cyclists to obey all the rules.  Fine.  But you want cyclists to pull over to allow cars to pass, when cyclists are allowed to be on the roads, and take the lane.

So cyclists should obey the rules, except when obeying the rules slows down cars, in which case they should *not* obey the rules, and defer to cars.

You can't possibly expect someone driving a car to be sane.

Imagine a one lane per direction winding road.  One cyclist going 15 mph in the middle of the lane.  Cars backed up for about a mile because it's so dangerous to cross over to oncoming traffic to pass the cyclist. Traffic pattens altered and surprising unsuspecting drivers on the road.  It's a very dangerous situation.  period.  All because one cyclist couldn't be bothered to take the bike path.[/quote]

Look, if someone is obeying the law but going slower than you would like, that's tough.  Pass them legally and safely, or not at all.  If you endanger or hurt someone while passing, that's on you.
