I actually think they should be banned on all major roads such as Connecticut Ave, Constitution Ave, etc. They slow down traffic so much that I don't think it's worth it.

And, did you ever notice that everyone driving slower than you is an idiot, and everyone driving faster than you is an a$$hole? (George Carlin).
Wow, you're so clever! Hey listen, do you think you could get off the gd road where you are slowing EVERYONE down and putting EVERYONE'S life in danger??
You all are going to have to make up your mind here. The OP wants cyclists to obey all the rules. Fine. But you want cyclists to pull over to allow cars to pass, when cyclists are allowed to be on the roads, and take the lane.
So cyclists should obey the rules, except when obeying the rules slows down cars, in which case they should *not* obey the rules, and defer to cars.
That's not a particularly tenable position.
Does it count as obeying the rules if the cyclist is going 20 mph in a 45 mph zone? and putting hundreds of lives in jeopardy?
How is going slow putting hundreds of lives in jeopardy?
You can't possibly expect someone driving a car to be sane.

A cyclist going 20 mph in a 45 mph zone
= Hundreds of lives in jeopardy
Imagine a one lane per direction winding road. One cyclist going 15 mph in the middle of the lane. Cars backed up for about a mile because it's so dangerous to cross over to oncoming traffic to pass the cyclist. Traffic pattens altered and surprising unsuspecting drivers on the road. It's a very dangerous situation. period. All because one cyclist couldn't be bothered to take the bike path.
Traffic patterns changed? Oh, dear!
Road construction must really throw you for a loop, PP.
Look, if someone is obeying the law but going slower than you would like, that's tough. Pass them legally and safely, or not at all. If you endanger or hurt someone while passing, that's on you.
This is very simple.
That's exactly right! Cyclists are like encountering road construction! Do you like road construction pp? Cuz I sure don't.

not many fatal bike crashes are the fault of the driver. The past several in Bethesda have resulted in no charges to the driver but totally created a mess for drivers after the fact, perfect example is Little Falls and the Crescent Trail.
It takes you an extra 30 seconds, and it's far safer than it was before. Simmer down.
Exactly, the guy that got killed should have taken the 30 seconds to stop at the intersection instead of blowing through it.

Not many of those in DC. Any other problems you'd like to hypothesize?
Newsflash! Not everyone on this board lives in DC!
