I had my first baby 2 weeks ago. He was born at 6lbs 2oz. He was full term. I was very worried because that is very small for a full term baby. I read boys are meow 7-8lbs. The doctor assured me that it’s normal and nothing was wrong. He did lose weight but regained his birth weight at 2 weeks. Are some babies just small?
Who told you that was "very small"?
OP here. Family and friends.
Please don't worry. I'm sure they were just saying "Oh he's so tiny!" but not in a "he's sickly and emaciated!" way. I feel like this is just something people say. "He's so precious!" "He's tiny!" "What a chunk!" My babies were small too- my full term baby was 6lbs 14oz and she's now 99th percentile for weight and height at age 6. My 33 weeker was 4lbs 10oz. DH and I are both very tall. Your baby is doing great!!
This - my DS was 6lbs at full term. He’s always been tall and skinny but very healthy and strong. Trust me once you start multitasking you’ll appreciate having a smaller baby - it’s easier to carry them in one hand 😊
