A big dog took a chunk of out of my face and even with that I don't hate them though I likely won't ever have a large dog ever, so I don't get the little dog hate. Just don't get one.
Hate is a strong word, but when I had a medium sized dog (lab/pit mix, 40ish lbs) he was attacked half a dozen times on walks by little dogs that were either off leash or the owners didn't heel them in, and in every. single. instance. the owner was absolutely tickled by their dog's bravery or moxie or whatever. The owners are what suck. Not just not training but thinking "he thinks he's big!!!" is an appropriate response to your terrible aggressive dog is what pisses me off. Luckily my dog was incredibly submissive and mostly it just hurt his feelings, but if he had reacted aggressively or bitten back I have zero doubts that they would have demanded he be put down or I pay their vet bills or pit mixes be banned from the East Coast. So the reaction might seem unnecessarily strong, but I've definitely met small dogs that I liked, and the difference was good owners.
