Honestly, the first thing I noticed on our tour is that all the students and faculty were white and all the custodians, food service workers, and even the construction workers around campus were black. It was really uncomfortable coming from such a diverse area. [/quote]

It’s 70% white and the races .From a glance it looks like all the students are white and all the service people are black. So yes there is a problem is it’s “blacks serving whites”, instead of workers, who happen to be black serving a diverse group of students. This is how prejudiced are learned.

this is common dynamic for the south, I expect the reactions of most of the students’ (and their parents) reactions to my brown kid would be to  expect affirmative action or that he was on financial aid or some other stereotype.

Sadly that is the dynamic of a lot of southern schools.my kids are black, and I’m from the south; but Regardless of race, I wouldn’t sign up (let alone pay full price) for this lesson.
