I think DCPS teachers are on the whole great. Not sure what you think is a problem? My kids were at a top private and we moved them to DCPS for accelerated classes, which DCPS delivered. What do you feel is missing?
The positivity rate in DC is 1.6 percent. Health officials say the positivity rate must be below 5 percent for schools to open safely. Why aren’t schools in DC open? https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/testing/testing-positivity
Why has reopening schools in other countries and other parts of this country been a shitshow? I hear from a private school teacher in the DC area who is teaching in person, and it sounds really risky. It is very likely that in person classes will be disrupted there in the near future and I wouldn't be surprised if she catches COVID. Two third of the people in DC who’ve died from coronavirus were over the age of 70. How many 70-year old teachers are there? Only two percent of deaths in DC were people under the age of 40. Meanwhile children are the least likely to get coronavirus. Only three percent of all the cases ever in DC involved people between the ages of five and 14. Schools in Britain have reopened with no problems. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/08/26/health-202-british-schools-reopened-with-little-covid-19-spread-new-data-show/?outputType=amp Also, think about how it disproportionally impacts people in the DC area. Who is getting sick? Who is dying?
