And autism is not the spectrum of special needs.  Cerebral palsy, genetic disorders, spina bifida...all fully represented in Asia in far greater percentages than 1 percent.  Autism percentages are highly manipulable.[/quote]

I am from China, and I came here to the states for college. And, you may not believe what I say, but I never knew or saw any autistic or noticeable special need child growing up there in China. My first child is SN & autistic , DH grew up here telling me that kids are so easily to be labeled with diagnosis here. He is doing fine with mild speech disorder & mild social deficit. Other than that, he looks like other kids. All of teachers are shocked when I tell them he is on spectrum. [/quote]
Probably they were hiding  their special needs kids due to stigma.  ASD rates in other Asian nations is higher than in the US.

As a parent with a SN child who lived in China for many years, this.

Learning disabilities isn't a thing in China. You just aren't working hard enough. Work harder in school and that will solve everything.

Physical disabilities are hidden.

For those with behavioral issues, the parents are told to keep their kids home from school when the school evaluators visit.[/quote]
