Mine will be in 4th and 6th in the fall. I can swing working maybe 2 days a week from home (broken up as needed). DH has no flexibility. The 6th graders (twins) are ok at home alone as needed (though I would not be thrilled will them home alone for full days), but my 4th grader really isn’t yet (other than short periods of an hour or so). I’m hoping to be able to WFH on the days 4th grader is home. If I really need to, I will look for an aftercare program (off site from school). Some camps are open where I live (day camps) so I’m sure there will be childcare options - even if limited. My main concern is how schedules between the kids will mesh. It would be nice if they try to put kids from the same family on the same schedule whenever possible. My older two will be in MS and I presume as twins they’d be on the same schedule (or maybe not?) but it would be nice if they took it into account. With my luck my 6th graders & 4th grader will be on completely opposite schedules...
ETA: my concern with all of this (especially for younger DC) is that everyone will just do off-site childcare programs on the off days- which totally defeats the purpose of less exposure and may be overall riskier. Or worse- kids will be their grandparents! No good. Most people I know do not have a nanny or au pair etc. and many cannot work from home.
