He's responsible for the goods that he's supposed to deliver. If he left the stuff there, he could've been fired or held responsible for the cost of the goods. So in practical terms- holding his goods hostage, holding him hostage- same difference. 2. No one has an obligation to respond to a bunch of random strange people on street. 3.
