Not even close to the same thing, you idiot.  The point of a baby or wedding shower is to shower the first time mother or first time bride with gifts.  You are invited to a wedding to participate.

A high school graduation announcement is unbelievably tacky and rude as you aren’t inviting the receiver anywhere - just telling them your kid finished high school.  [/quote]
