Full of rich spoiled moms, who think it's tacky that any senior might actually need said graduation money. Meanwhile they are sitting on trust funds, and gifts from their parents.
See - it IS a gift grab.
+1. It’s a tacky, blatant gift-grab.
Along with baby shower and bridal showers. I’m sure you didn’t have either of those. Hope you also didn’t accept gifts at your wedding.
Otherwise—- hypocrite

That’s different. Those activities are specifically to provide gifts - hence the word shower. A graduation is not to provide gifts. That activity is to graduate. Also, 99.99% of the people who were going to send your kid a gift anyway, already know your kid is graduating. It’s a gift grab, like showers for second babies or second weddings. Obviously you believe in them but it doesn’t change the fact that they are gift grabs.
Anonymous wrote:I always apprciate receiving the announcements because we have a really big family and there's no way I can keep track of all 18 cousin's graduation days, etc. This year I was PARTICULARLY thrilled to receive a grad announcement and to send a gift. I think we all need to be doubly supportive of our grads this year, and to wish them well and just generally make a big old fuss over them. You guys are a bunch of Debby Downers.
And as someone who was raised working class and only recently made it into the UMC, I don't care if they're tacky. It feels good to be able to afford all of those things -- birth announcements, grad announcements, etc. and to have the time and resources to make them. (I do, however, draw the line at gender reveal parties, which are just tacky.)
Anonymous wrote:Please don’t do high school graduation announcements, OP. They are so trailer park and tacky. It’s a pathetic gift-grab and everyone knows it.

Anonymous wrote:We do not send announcements either but can you just not put a date changing the wording based on the current situation? Or use the last day of school.
Congratulation to Larla on her graduation from Kennedy HS!!
