I’m the poster who grew up nearby who would have supported a pool. A ton of nice trees have been cut down. There is no denying that. The neighborhood is also losing the gentler sledding hill.
What sledding hill is lost?
The gentle one off near Quebec street that ended at the tennis courts. It was my favorite growing up - the one closer to the school is steep and fast and uncomfortable when you land.
It's maybe 60-70 feet between the street and the tennis courts - it's not even the length of one of the adjacent tennis courts and it had a mix of trees and bushes in it until a few months ago - I find it hard to believe too many people ever sledded there.
I sled there my entire youth. It’s a nice gentle sledding hill. Many kids would go there. And FYI- tregarron no longer allows sledding and it was super dangerous anyway since that hill led straight down into trees and a creek. And tregarron is ten blocks or so from Hearst. Not a great idea to trudge all the way over there to sled. Stop talking about things you have no idea about and blowing off the facts posted by people who’ve kicked in the area for decades. Again, I support the pool, but yes there was a massive sitting down of old trees and yes the sledding hill will likely no longer be usable for sledding.
