To the best of my knowledge, the Super Group is made of those teams in NCSL D1 that registered for State Cup and want to be part of the Super Group.  When you play your league games as you normally would, when you play a team that is in Super Group, that result will count towards Super Group standings and regular D1 standings.  If the team is NOT in the Super group, then that game will just count toward the D1 standings.  So the Super Group does not affect your normal NCSL schedule what so ever.  It is possible that only two of your D1 teams decided to do Super Group, so the winner of that league game will be the winner of the Super Group too and will advance to that champions tournament.  As to competition, I believe NCSL did this to try to draw some of the teams that left NCSL back to NCSL to improve the competition in NCSL.  But in order to do that, they have to leave their league and rejoin NCSL.  So my hunch is that very few teams did that. I mean who would leave their current league just for this Super Group thing.  They can stay in their league and just play state cup. I beleive it costs $150 per team to join super group.  This moeny will go towards the fields, erferees, etc for the champions tournament or whatever it's called.[/quote]
