I'm so glad I got a third opinion from the sinus specialist, who identified the actual cause of the sinus problem - something that did not require surgery.

In your case, I'd  recommend being very skeptical of a doctor who recommends sinus surgery for an infection that's only lasted a few weeks. Get a second opinion. I know you're probably in a lot of pain, and worn down from it, but it's possible surgery might not be the right answer.
