Also traffic is probably very different here from HoCo. We're on the very eastern end of the BCC district and before they built Silver Creek, the 5 miles to Westland took an hour-plus  each way. That sucks for everyone, but especially the lower income families, which is why MCPS didn't prioritize SES equity when they decided on the school pairings for Silver Creek and Westland. Poor families benefit from neighborhood schools at least as much if not more than wealthier families who have greater means and flexibility in managing greater distances.[/quote]
