This is a question for those that believe the ability to carry a fire arm results in higher murder rates. The statistics dispute this conclusion. So what are the other factors that make MD and DC more murderous jurisdictions? Or is it that criminals are less likely to commit a crime in places where they believe the intended victims might be armed? Discuss ... Feel free to cite facts as well as theories involving religion, politics, socio-economic status, culture, schools, gangs, etc.
FACT: I biked from Virginia to DC this morning. I was not stopped at a checkpoint on the 14th Street Bridge sidepath. No one asked me if I was taking a gun from Virginia into DC. No one asked to look inside my pannier (bike bag). I could have been doing a challenge to see how many guns I could have carried on my bike, no one would have known. OTOH - It would have had to have been handguns. I don't think I could carry a rifle in my pannier.
