There's just not enough talent in Northern VA to field all these teams.
There is enough raw talent. Just not enough kids go to private schools from NOVA to refine that talent.
That comment is laughable. Private schools collect talent they do not refine it. Did Bullis refine Jr. and Sr. transfers? Does IMG or the Hill school? Kids play more games in the fall and summer than they do in the spring. Kids in NOVA have decent public school teams. In MD just about ALL club lacrosse kids go to private schools. If you collected all of the top NOVA public HS players they would be top 2-3 team in the DMV easily. Robinson, South County, Langley have all produced players to excel at the D1 level and beyond. Let's be clear those kids are refine'd by the clubs not by HS. It is true that many of the current top level 8-11 grade players also go play for MD based clubs and do go to play at WCAC and IAC schools in DC and MD. I would be silly to claim that public teams are better than private school teams. However, this is because the top players decide to go there.
I'm not sure what your point is about collecting talent in PS and making a good team. It's kind of like saying if you collect all the best euro's playing basketball you could have a really competitive basketball team in the NBA. If you are a really good player, you seek to go to privates because they have the better coaching, are surrounded by other good players and the programs are consistent year-over-year.
If you don't understand his point then you are amazingly stupid.
His point is someone can collect the very best lacrosse public school players from a given year and compete against the IAC or WCAC. No kidding. He's also claiming the top lacrosse schools in the country aren't somehow making those players better. Wrong.
