North and South on Netflix. This beats pride and prejudice in the costume drama romance category. Richard Armitage is incredible in it.
Yeah, I think this is my favorite too followed closely by the 2006 version of Jane Eyre with Ruth Wilson. When I think of mini-series, I also think of the 1985 Civil War series North and South (with Patrick Swayze). Although I loved it at the time, I'm not sure that has aged well. A recent one I liked was A Very English Scandal (Hugh Grant).
This exactly, if you are ever wanting some cheese and pure popcorn ridiculousness. I was a teen when this came on in the 80s and missed the last episode due to a family party that I couldn't miss. This was back when Betamax and VHS were still having a duel for supremacy and cost something crazy like $500, so no option for recording. I was devastated! Watched the conclusion some years later and hahaha at all the terrible attempts at southern accents and extreme overacting. Not Cmdr. William Riker's finest performance lol. Also really glossed over the horrors of slavery and devastation on both sides, so agree that it hasn't aged well.
