I was in a situation like you when I switched in-house legal positions 5 years ago.  I was accustomed to having 4 weeks of vaca, and the new employer was offering the standard 2 weeks of vaca.   I was able to negotiate 4 weeks before I accepted the job.  I noticed that other people (with a similar level of experience) at my company who started at the same time were getting by with 2 weeks of vaca for many years, because they either did not attempt to negotiate, or were unsuccessful in negotiating that.

I was like you -- with 2 weeks of vaca, I was not going to take the job (since I have 2 kids).  DH (was already getting 5 weeks of vaca) at his job.  [/quote]
