This is an offshoot of another DC thread but fits here. So I grew up MC but now I’m UMC. My mom always said my hair and nails should be done. But I see a lot of commentary about nails not being done. Do you think UMC women always have their nails done? What about upper class?
Op, google photos of Jacqueline Onassis. Your welcome.
She wore gloves. Plus nail salons weren't really such a thing back then anyway. Cant you come up with an example from the last 40 years?
Not one single style icon in modern times can touch her. Not one.
 What I said was nail salons weren't particularly common in the 60s. Tippi Hedren was looking for a way to help Vietnamese refugees learn a skill 40 years ago, and that is what she came up with. I'm not thinking Tippi is the epitome of class; she was an actress in Hollywood. The two are not necessarily synonymous. Things that are considered UMC change with the times. To point to someone who died decades ago as an argument either for or against is useless. Times change, and grooming habits change. Are we all supposed to wear beehives because Jackie did? Does that signify being upper class? Jackie Kennedy wore make-up, and that would have been a big no-no 50 years earlier. So even she recognized that style doesn't have to be stagnant.
