I think regardless of if you eat some meat of are vegan or vegetarian, we should all be more aware of risks that diabetes and obesity bring and that most of these immense health problems can be solved with diet. Yesterday I saw a man at the Dr who lost his leg, and his other leg was so swollen and looked hardened. He was clearly in a lot of pain. My mother is very heavy and has diabetes. My father had diabetes 1, and low sugar that several times almost led to death. I think that no matter what works for you, me, others, we need to take this health crisis very seriously. I think plan based diet has many benefits, and is still prohibitive for many in urban deserts and even in suburbs where you have grocery stores. Look at Wegmans prices for fresh produce, not even organic one. It used to be that processed crap cost more when we had seasonal produce, now that has skyrocketed as well. I shop at Aldi a lot, and that has lowered our grocery bills significantly, but it is a mixed bag there more than not. We eat veggies and fruit, a lot of it, but it adds up and fast. Anyway, sorry for my rant, just that I was pretty shook yesterday. Many would blame the patient for it, but at this scale we need to realize that we can't keep blaming one person. Society needs to get it together.
