Richmond is really only good for humanities, political science, etc. For a science major you want Colgate, Lehigh, or Bucknell For business you may want Lehigh for its proximity to NYC but Colgate and Bucknell have equally strong programs For engineering Lehigh is above the rest, but Bucknell is fine too. I know nothing about W&L other than its lily white frat nonsense reputation.
Jobs coming out of the humanities are dying.
But jobs for kids with humanities degrees are fine as long as at a solid school and kids acquire some career-relevant experience and learn how to pitch themselves. In some cases, being a history major or a literature major AND knowing a programming language and having a relevant internship can make a kid stand out more. Same with social science majors like psychology, sociology--there are jobs that use the underlying skills rather than direct line. Look at the actual employment data for the schools you are interested in by major and see how it looks.
