I insisted my kids wear helmets when they were ice skating. They took figure skating lessons for years, but stopped when they were in their tween/early teen years, I think in large part due to the self-consciousness they felt being the only ones wearing a helmet. One time my DC had a bad fall. I was extremely grateful DC was wearing a helmet at the time. Ice skating is extremely dangerous and it boggles my mind that it seems to be the only sport that doesn't prioritize safety. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.today.com/today/amp/flna2D12112777 https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.mercurynews.com/2017/01/19/ice-skating-and-concussions-ashley-wagner-lived-in-silent-terror-after-head-injury/amp/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/16882806/ As I was finding links, I stumbled onto this one about the dangers of spinning. It never occurred to me spinning had inherent dangers. Clearly, a helmet wouldn't protect against this. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcconnecticut.com/investigations/Possible-Link-Between-Figure-Skating-Spins-and-Concussions-245096171.html%3famp=y
