I was truly curious about the W schools and why they are such a big thing.[/quote] They're a thing because people who spend more money to live in places like Potomac and Bethesda like to think the schools there are better, so they can justify in their minds why they paid more for their houses. Of course we all know the scores are 100% correlated with SES and that there are many excellent schools in other parts of the county (aka Poolesville, QO, etc). [/quote]
