Lincoln wasn't any champion of equal rights, despite what you libs have been spoon fed. Consider his own words:

Actually, no. Way to miss the point though.

The point is that Lincoln was a man contemporary to the times. Lincoln didn't consider blacks equal. He was an opportunist who issued the EP to break the back of the CSA and preserve the Union.
