Northwood has a very wonderful strong hard working team. I will say there not the Best in the game. But there not the under dogs. They have a wonderful coach and students /dancers. Northwood Pom’s really work for what they want . Your child would be coming home happy to be apart of this team. They came out very strong the pass 3 years . So sit back and watch it unfold ! Remember there’s different levels also for a team that doesn’t have a full gym space to practice or for a team where dancers dance in and out side of school lets no forget a team who follows rules from MCPS don’t practice on snow days. Yeah 2nd place never looked so good
Parent of a RM pom alumni and a current pom. I did enjoy watching Northwood poms team, a group of very talented girls. However, my daughter did inform me of a incident where the Northwood Poms fans and some Northwood Poms themselves accused the judges of racial bias behind the competing results online , which is untrue and a huge slap in the face to the other hard working teams. This was Northwood's 1st or 2nd year in D2 and while I admire their confidence, lets not be too cocky. I hope that the coach spends this current season teaching her athletes some humility and focus more on the journey and not the destination. I wish your daughter and Northwood Poms the best!
I’m not seeing the connection between accusing the judges of racial bias and needing to learn humility.
It was from my understanding that they accused the judges of racial bias because the team scored low due to the fact that they were a more diverse squad. My daughter also inform me that the Northwood student body also thought they were gonna place due to their previous success much like Whitman. Whitman was in division 2 when my oldest daughter was in Poms 4 years ago, so they knew what the division was like. Northwood should've prepared to the idea that they might not place in a more difficult division this year. Also, to call the judges racist just protays the student body as sore losers especially when BCC a very diverse team place 3rd, and Einstein (Northwoods DCC sister school and just as diverse) placied first.
