If the shoe were on the other foot, you'd like him to stick with you through thick and thin. Did we ever get to the root of the depression? It would help if you worked out with him, getting in shape is a good step to getting started. And a little resume polishing wouldn't hurt. I assume in the years you've been together, you've tried everything, but you have to jar him, and stay by his side (if possible).
