There was a recent episode of Frontline showed how easy it was for any adult to show up and pick up unaccompanied minors when the influxes a few years ago were so high. They lowered verification standards on who showed up to get the kids and they never followed up on the kids. The show focuses on some teen boys who were taken to a chicken farm and basically living in slave like conditions. And what recourse did these 14 yr olds have?  None. Their families paid thousands of dollars for them to be sent  to the US and then treated like crap. https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/film/trafficked-in-america/
