Depending on where graduation is held, balloons can be a terrible idea. E.g., in APS graduations are held at Constitution Hall. Parents sit in the tiered seating. That means that balloons floating in the air above people sitting in lower-level rows will be in the line of vision of people sitting in rows behind/above. Please don't do this. My DS1 graduated from high school 2 years ago. We brought nothing but big smiles and big hugs. Then we went out for a celebration lunch. It was a lovely day.
+1 Who even brings balloons to graduation? Our high school also graduates at DAR, and I can't even imagine someone parading in there with balloons. Plenty of time for that at lunch/dinner afterwards, or a party.
