This perception that liberals aren't patriotic and see the flag as something offensive (or "tacky" - WTF?) is a made-up fever dram of the Fox News crowd, fanned by trolls who perceive some advantage in perpetuating divisions in America. I am as liberal as anyone, and more liberal than most, my ancestors consist both of recent immigrants and Revolutionary War soldiers, and I refufe to cede *my* country to the right wing. Being patriotic doesn't require one to turn off his or her brain, and blindly declaring that everything the US does is great is the opposite of patriotism.
