In my case, I've found that people don't always take me seriously...even compared to other women. They are more likely to assume I'm lost when I walk into a meeting than that I might even be the one running it. I don't know if this has helped me or hurt me in comparison to just being a woman in a male-dominated field...but I've learned to flip the script and sometimes use people's biases to my advantage. I.e., let them tell me things they think I wouldn't understand or catch them off guard by being much more knowledgeable about something than they expected (though given my job and background, they shouldn't be surprised).[/quote]
