It would totally depend on their behavior. Do they make noise, hang outside the car smoking, interact in any negative way with others, etc? If there are any red flags, act. If they are quiet, keep to themselves, and not disturbing or threatening anyone, I would probably ignore it out of sympathy for them.
THIS! The PP suggesting towing them Is a world class jerk. If all they are doing is living there and not causing a nuisance, then I wouldn't all the cops OR cause them to have a tow fee they cannot pay. Geez -some people are real jerks.
You're not a "jerk" if you don't want someone living in their car in front of your house. You are a normal and reasonable person. It doesn't matter if the people are not misbehaving or causing a nuisance or making you feel unsafe. I wouldn't want people doing that in front of my house, and I bet all the self-righteous PPs who are scolding the OP wouldn't want people living in a car outside their house either.
Yes, OP. These are people who, if faced with the same issue, would likely call the policy or social services. Don't let them guilt trip you. I was born in and have lived in DC for most of my 55 years and there is no way I would feel comfortable with folks living inside their car in front of my house or in close proximity. It doesn't matter where I live in the city. You are not responsible for their plight or obligated to tolerate it because you are not in the same situation. I would call 311 and get some advice on what can be done. I feel sorry for their situation but they will need to park somewhere else. I am glad to know there are no children involved which would complicate things.
