Fml. DH's family threw me a surprise bridal shower and a surprise baby shower. I cried and ran out of the room for the baby shower. I didn't feel well and wasn't dressed that great. Just felt pregnant and fat. The bridal shower was the only shower I had and I was disappointed my mom or friends weren't invited. [/quote]

Sounds like you opposition to the surprise parties wasn't because you didn't want the party, but because you didn't like either your clothes or the guest list.  Not exactly the same as we're discussing.[/quote]
