Almost same story.  When you come from middling HS and backwards middle class into an elite college, it tanks your GPA unless you are truly truly exceptional, versus going to state university which would be a much easier transition in so many ways (academically, socially, financially).  Though I ended up doing what I wanted but I could have easily taken same path from state university bc it wasnt doctor/banker/lawyer route.[/quote]
