Because government employees shouldn’t get special treatment at the expense of other citizens. The issue isn’t whether a principal could or should send their kid to their school. By virtue of her position, this principal had access to the chancellor, asked a favor, and the result was something no other citizen got. That seat could have gone to any number of needier or more deserving kids. DC principals make over $150 grand a year. Go rent an apt in Nw if you want to attend Wilson[/quote]

The school is overcrowded. If Martin's kid hadn't gotten in, no one else would have. Her kid was accepted at SWW, but wanted to play football. He could have clearly gone to any other comprehensive high school as an OOB student.

The email traffic in the IG report makes it clear that Kaya Henderson and Nathaniel Beers knew full well that this looked bad, but thought there was a low chance of it becoming public knowledge.

As for teacher preference, there are 4100 teachers in DCPS. There's not room for them all to get exceptions.[/quote]
