+1 If I saw a parent and child, and my child was friends with that child, I would say hi, nice day and let the kids talk. It doesn't matter if I don't particularly like that person or not-it's called manners.  I have a rule, "Not married to you, NOT related to you,  your name is NOT on my paycheck, and you are disrespectful to me or my family, then you do NOT count ". I do Not fill my life with nasty, petty, immature bullies, who I have no respect for. I suggest the same for you OP.[/quote]
