Is there a lot of cheating among women in the U.S. when their husbands are overseas? Sadly, yes. No different for men.
I know more women who cheated on their husbands while deployed than vice versa.
This. The military men were working 12 hour + days while deployed...mostly with other men. The women were staying home twiddling their thumbs, throwing MLM parties and looking for new relationships.
Big difference between being deployed to a base in Afghanistan or Kuwait, and being on a one year unaccompanied tour to South Korea or Kosovo. South Korea was 100% drinking 100% of the free time, which was pretty frequent for officers and enlisted (even junior enlisted, who aren't allowed to drive partially for this reason). STDs and cheating were rampant. There are local women everywhere. Do I think everyone does it? No. But there is waaaaay too much drinking. Way too much. And people make bad choices. And the women talk to each other; they know how to make it look bad enough that a soldier may find himself divorced first (texts, chats, invitations home, showing up at the hotel if the family visits, etc..).
